A Canadian woman refused blood transfusion on religious grounds and died from multiple organ failure following complications from a Caesarean section.
She refused treatment even as doctors warned she would die without it.
There were other reports released on two deaths where the patients refused blood transfusions, citing their religious beliefs. They believed that Bible commands that they do not ingest blood, included through transfusion.
